Public toilets are opened everyday before 8.00am and are closed anywhere after 7.00pm in daylight savings time.  They are closed at 6.00pm in non daylight saving hours.  All toilets are open seven (7) days a week including public holidays.  Learmonth Park toilets are only open for the weekend which is from Friday to Monday (same opening hours as other toilets). Sulman Park toilets are only opened when required for race meets.

The Bridle Track at Monaghans Bluff is closed indefinately due to a rock fall and extensive damage to the road - as seen in this photo.

Preferred routes from Bathurst to Hill End are either via the historic village of Sofala, 86km with approximately 12km of unsealed road, or 77km via Turondale which is all sealed.

The historic Bridle Track along the Macquarie and Turon River, unsuitable for caravan and trailers, is no longer a through road.

Bathurst is fortunate to have 3 unique historic homes that are open to the public at various times:

Abercrombie House - resonates with local history.  A 52 room Tudor Gothic mansion built over a period of 8 years and completed in 1878 using local stone and cedar featuring 30 fireplaces, 7 staircases and a ballroom.

Miss Traill's House - Built in 1845 for the Reverend Thomas Sharpe, this Georgian inspired property was bequeathed to the National Trust by Miss Ida Traill who resided in the property from 1930 to 1976 and is full of memorabilia from her pioneering ancestors.

Chifley Home - Home of former Prime Minister, Ben Chifley and his wife Elizabeth - an insight into their domestic life with original furniture, personal items and official gifts.

Each one offers an insight into life in a different era.  Visitors to the city can visit all three of these properties with an Historic Homes Pass.

Historic Homes passes offer a discount on the entry to the wonderful houses and can be purchased from the Bathurst Visitor Information Centre at 1 Kendall Avenue.
